This year was wild. Dodgers went back to back. The Switch 2 came out. We finally went to New York! Oh yeah and we had a freakin baby! Good times. Anyways, here are my favorite games from 2025.
10. The Alters

The Alters is a survival management sim with multiverse elements in a 3rd person space setting. Not sure why I didn’t hear more about this game but it was really fun to play and quite relaxing while sipping on some whiskey.

9. Silent Hill f
Konami is so back. Silent Hill f sets a great mood mixed with some interesting combat that is unlike the other games.
8. Peak

Peak is peak fun. The four of us innocently crossing this bridge, asking “what’s that sound?” seconds before it collapsed was easily the highlight of the year. I had to step out of the room because I couldn’t stop laughing. RIP Robert, you died for our memories.
7. A Game About Digging a Hole

This game is about digging a hole and it’s amazing.
6. Megabonk

Yooo they made 3D Vampire survivors!
5. Hollow Knight: Silksong

I’m glad everyone can finally stop asking when Silksong is coming out. Yes is was great. Yes it was worth the wait. But damn, why you gotta be so hard?
4. Donkey Kong Bananza

From the moment I saw the trailer in the Direct, I knew this was going to be awesome. A little sad that we didn’t get a true follow up to DK64 but hey, at least Bananza helped name my son!
3. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

I’ll be honest. I did NOT want to play Clair Obscur. I was an idiot. Insane story with some of the best, coolest, and most satisfying combat I have ever experienced in a video game.
2. Arc Raiders

Arc Raiders could have easily been my top game of 2025. Each round can be wildly different. One minute you can be chatting it up with some randos telling them don’t shoot or being hunted by some dude who swears you stole his lemons. This game is entertaining and horrifying. It’s as if the makers of PUBG and Destiny teamed up to make a game with a touch of gambling. What’s that? Marathon? Never heard of it.
1. Blue Prince

Fucking Blue Prince. Such a simple premise, get to the 46th room. Each run gives you knowledge not just skill so failed attempts never feel wasted. The randomness doesn’t dilute the experience; it enhances it. Not since The Witness has a puzzle game occupied my mind when I wasn’t playing it. Roguelike meets puzzle adventure is what I want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I need more indie bangers to come out during springtime. First Balatro, now Blue Prince. My RV road trips depend on it!
Games I played but didn’t make the cut:
- Hades II – sorry Roberto, blame Milo!
- Keep digging
- Hell is us
- Mage arena
- BL4
- THPS 3+4
- Elden Ring Nightreign
- Skin Deep
- Avowed
- Metroid Prime 4 – I was really excited for this. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation but this game would put me to sleep whenever I played
- Assassins Creed Shadows
- Death Stranding 2
- Mario Kart World
And games I added to the ever growing backlog
- And Roger
- Split Fiction
- Despelote
- Dispatch
- Absolum
- Ghost of Yotei
- Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
- Rematch
